Overview
Ol Pejeta, which takes in the old Sweetwaters land, holds the largest black rhino population in East Africa, and you have a genuine chance of seeing both black and white rhino in a morning. All of the Big Five are here on ground gentle enough that game drives are easy on the back.
Camp overlooks one of the busiest waterholes in Laikipia — elephant, giraffe and plains game come to you after dark, floodlit, while you eat. The conservancy also runs the only chimpanzee sanctuary in Kenya, at Sweetwaters, home to rescued animals from central Africa.

Day by day

Day 1 Nairobi to Ol Pejeta
North through the tea and coffee estates of the highlands and onto the Laikipia plateau, with Mount Kenya on your right in clear weather. Lunch at camp, then an afternoon game run into the conservancy.

Day 2 A full day on the conservancy
Two long game runs, morning and late afternoon, looking for both rhino species and the rest of the Big Five. Between them, the option of the chimpanzee sanctuary, or simply the waterhole in front of camp.

Day 3 Ol Pejeta to Nairobi
An early game drive while the plateau is cold and the rhino are still out in the open, then breakfast and the road back to Nairobi.
