Overview
The easiest way to add a real safari to a beach holiday. You're collected from your hotel on Kenya's north or south coast, met at the park gate by your guide, and spend two nights at a camp whose lounge looks straight out over a waterhole.
Tsavo West is a mix of grassland, acacia woodland, rocky ridges and river forest. Elephant, lion, cheetah, leopard, buffalo, hippo and rhino all live here.
This tour starts and ends at your Mombasa beach hotel, not Nairobi.

Day by day

Day 1 Mombasa coast to Tsavo West
Pick-up from your beach hotel at 7:00am and an air-conditioned shuttle to the park gate, where your guide and safari vehicle meet you. Game drive on the way to camp, lunch, then time to relax watching the waterhole about 100 metres away before an afternoon drive.

Day 2 Full day in Tsavo West
Morning game drive and a visit to Mzima Springs, where millions of litres of clear water arrive each day from the Chyulu Hills. Watch hippos walk along the bottom, crocodiles on the banks and elephants in the shallows. Afternoon game drive.

Day 3 Tsavo West to the coast
Early game drive, breakfast at camp, then the shuttle back to your Mombasa beach hotel, arriving before lunch.
