Overview
Five parks in eight days, taking in the widest range of Kenyan landscape: the lava flows and springs of Tsavo West, the dust and mountain of Amboseli, high montane forest in the Aberdares, the alkaline lake at Nakuru and the open grassland of the Mara.
Lodges throughout, including a night at a forest tree lodge where the game comes to a floodlit waterhole below your balcony, and two full days at the end in the Masai Mara.

Day by day

Day 1 Nairobi to Tsavo West
South-east into Tsavo West, which is hillier and more volcanic than its eastern neighbour. Arrive for lunch, then an afternoon game drive under the Chyulu hills.

Day 2 Tsavo West to Amboseli
A morning drive taking in Mzima Springs, where you can watch hippo and crocodile through an underwater window, then west to Amboseli for the evening.

Day 3 A full day in Amboseli
Out early for Kilimanjaro before the summit clouds over, then game drives among the swamps, which hold elephant, buffalo and hippo through the day.

Day 4 Amboseli to the Aberdares
North past Nairobi, stopping for lunch, and up into the Aberdare range. Transfer to the tree lodge in the afternoon and watch the waterhole after dark.

Day 5 Aberdares to Lake Nakuru
Down from the forest into the Rift Valley. Lunch at the lodge, then an afternoon game run for black and white rhino and Rothschild's giraffe.

Day 6 Nakuru to the Masai Mara
Across the valley floor to the Mara, settling into camp in time for the first afternoon game drive.

Day 7 A full day in the Mara
Extensive game runs morning and afternoon, with the time to sit at a sighting rather than move on from it.

Day 8 Masai Mara to Nairobi
A morning game drive, breakfast at camp, then the drive back to Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon.
